Cawdor Castle was built to be a private fortress by the Thanes of Cawdor in the 14th Century. Additions have been made over the years, and the castle remains the home of the Cawdor family. The Castle is open to the public during the summer months. Visitors have access to the Flower Garden, Castle Restaurant, and several gift shops.
